Shimura Tae is the older sister of Shinpachi-one of the freelancers in Gintoki's place. She's 18 years old.

Tae was protecting her father's dojo when she discovered Shinpachi has yet again to be fired from a part-time job. Shinpachi said it was all Gintoki's fault, so Tae beat up Gintoki as well and dragged him to the dojo and told him to properly apologize (that is, commit seppuku).But before anything happened, the creditor came and said that if Tae won't pay back her father's debt-she'll either sell the dojo as her father promised he would do or she'll go and sell herself in order to work off the debt. Tae agreed to go and sell herself and when Shinpachi protested, tae told him that letting go of the dojo is painful and keeping it is also painful, so if it'll be painful either way-she'll keep the dojo.

Shinpachi didn't like it so he and Gintoki busted into the ship that housed the creditor's brothel and saved Tae. After that, Tae told Shinpachi to go with Gintoki since Shinpachi saw something in that man-a true samurai spirit. She told Shipachi she'll also work to help the dojo and ever since, she works part-time in a bar. In that bar,she met the captain of the Shinsengumi-who stalks her ever since and she hates that very much.

Tae's personality: Despite her beautiful face, she can be quite tough and violent when she wants to...which happens far too often. She won't tolerate stupid people but she still tolerates Shinpanchi's friends, Gintoki and Kagura, because they helped her on numerous occasions. Her only fault is that she can't cook-everything she cooks is very bad and disgusting. But if you'll comment on that, you'r just going to get a beating and be forced to eat her cooking. Her biggest dream is to one day remaster her father's dojo.
